FFA will meet after school on Thursday

Dixie Youth Baseball gives away several $2000 scholarships each year. Students who have participated in Dixie Youth Baseball for at least one year are eligible to apply. Applicant’s ability as an athlete will not be a factor in awarding scholarships. Applications are available in Guidance and should be returned no later than January 28th.


Attention Seniors Officers: Mr. Meadows will be in the building this afternoon to take your photo for the yearbook. Please meet in the foyer in front of the main office at 2:40. Teachers please excuse these students.


Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will award two scholarships to two graduating seniors in the amount of $1000 based on academic achievement and financial need. Applications are available in guidance. Deadline to return application to guidance is March 16th.


The Armenian Education Center will offer an essay question competition which will award a $1000 scholarship to one Virginia High School student. The competition is open to grades 9 – 12. A hard copy of the essay and an emailed copy is due to the Armenian Education Center by April 1st. See Mrs. Maxey if you would like more information.


Attention Juniors and Seniors: A representative from Miller-Motte Technical College will be here on Thursday, January 22nd at 9:30. Sign up in Guidance if you plan to attend this meeting.


To all seniors who have turned in a baby photo:  Please come by room 110 and pick them up. To those who have not, please bring one to the library tomorrow.


Attention 6th and 7th graders- Are you interested in a medical careers camp this summer? If so, please see Ms. Pugh in Guidance for a flyer. The camp will be held at VA Baptist Hospital from July 27th – July 31st. The deadline for applications is April 20, 2015.


Attention 10th grade Advanced Math students: Applications for the Early College Scholar Program and the Central Virginia Governor’s School are now available from Mrs. Dalton in Guidance. Students who are in Pre-AP Algebra II/Trig or Pre-AP Calculus are eligible to apply for these programs. Please pick applications from Mrs. Dalton by Wednesday, January 21st.


Attention 10th graders who are interested in attending the STEM Engineering Program at CVCC next year: Applications are now available from Mrs. Dalton. Students who attend this program spend ½ the day at CVCC taking math, science and Engineering courses and the other half of the day at William Campbell. This is a great program for students who would like to receive college credit during high school and are interested in getting hired by companies such as BWXT and Areva after high school. Please see Mrs. Dalton by Wednesday, January 21st to find out eligibility requirements and to pick up an application.


The CVCC English and Math Placement test for sophomores who plan to apply to the Early College or STEM programs, seniors planning to attend CVCC in the fall, and any student planning to take a dual enrollment class next year such as Machine Shop, has been scheduled for Friday, February 6th. The test will begin at 8:05 in the library. There is no cost for the test and students need to apply to CVCC prior to testing. The deadline to sign up in Guidance is Friday, January 30th.
