Attention 10th and 11th grade students: There will be a meeting for both parents and students on Monday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m. regarding course opportunities for next school year. Students who are interested in applying to the Early College Program, the Central Virginia Governor’s School or the STEM Academy at CVCC will meet in the library with Mrs. Dalton. Students who are interested in learning more about opportunities ate the tech center will meet in the auditorium. In addition, Mrs. Ashley Wilson, CCTC Counselor, will be discussing options for rising seniors next year at CCTC like Pre-Nursing, Welding, HVAC, Machine Shop and two potential new programs, Cyber Security and EMT/Fire. See Mrs. Dalton if you have questions.

 

Attention Seniors: If your family is planning to sponsor a senior ad in the yearbook, all ad information and payment is due by December 1st.

 

Indoor Track practice will begin Monday, November 28th. Bring completed physicals and warm clothes for practice.

 

WC will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd. Any student who would like to donate should see Mrs. Faulconer for a permission form. Snacks are also needed for the canteen. Students can earn BETA hours for their donations.

 

Students are reminded to take part in the BETA Club Harvest Food Drive to support local families in need. Turn in your non-perishable and canned goods at the table in the main lobby.

 

Attention Seniors: The guidance office has received information for applying for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program Scholarship. Deadline to apply is December 31st. Please see WC’s website for more information.

 

The CVCC English and Math Placement test for sophomores who plan to apply for the Early College Program or STEM and for seniors planning to apply to CVCC in the fall of 2017, and for any student planning to do a dual enrollment class next year such as machine shop has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 6th. The test will begin at 8:05 a.m. in the library. There is no cost for the test. Students need to sign up in Guidance and apply to CVCC prior to testing day. Attention Seniors & Juniors: Campbell County Public Schools and Oakes Test Prep have partnered to offer FREE SAT prep classes. Students will learn about the various aspects of the SAT including Reading, English, Math, and the Essay. The session will include 6 hours of instruction from 9:00 to 4:00 with a break from approximately 12:00 to 1:00. Seniors will be given priority for the first workshops. Students are required to register for the workshops at your school.
