Congratulations to Emma Scott and Kaitlyn King for their performances at yesterday’s Cross-Country meet. Out of a field of 54 runners Emma took top honors finishing in 1st place with a time of 22:26 for 3.1 miles. Kaitlyn was close behind with a 4th place finish and a time of 23:42.

 

FFA Tractor Operator Contest practice will be held this afternoon – Thursday, October 13th from 3-4:00.

 

The Pep Club is selling spirit beads for $1. See Mrs. McGuire to make your purchase.

  


Homecoming Tailgate Party: High School and Middle School students are invited to attend a Homecoming tailgate party before the Homecoming game on Friday, October 14th from 4-6 p.m. behind the Middle School. This is a FREE event!! Come enjoy pizza, games, prizes and music! Sign-up outside of the MS Office or in the cafeteria by Wednesday, October 12th if you plan to attend.


Attention High School Students: The Homecoming Dance will be right after the game on Friday in the cafeteria. Tickets are $5 at the door. We hope to see you there!! Dance ends at 11:00.

 

Juniors and Seniors: We are excited to announce an opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to visit Ferrum College on Wednesday, October 26th. The bus will leave promptly at 8:00 a.m. and will return around 2:30 p.m. The cost of the trip is $7, which will pay for lunch in the college dining hall. We will be able to accommodate the first 70 students who sign up. Students must pay their $7 to be registered for the trip. Please sign up and pay in the main office.

 

Attention Seniors & Juniors: Campbell County Public Schools and Oakes Test Prep have partnered to offer FREE SAT prep classes. Students will learn about the various aspects of the SAT including Reading, English, Math, and the Essay. The first workshop will be offered on Friday, October 14th at Rustburg High School. The session will include 6 hours of instruction from 9:00 to 4:00 with a break from approximately 12:00 to 1:00. Seniors will be given priority for the first workshops. Students are required to register for the workshops at your school.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Schools, organizations, and communities are raising awareness of bullying prevention and teaching students how to respond effectively to bullying situations. Stay tuned to morning announcements and listen for ways to help eliminate bullying. Information is provided by Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center and the Center for Disease Control.

When Does Bullying Happen?

Bullying can begin as early as preschool. It increases in elementary school, peaks in middle school, and then decreases in high school.
