Congratulations goes out to the girl’s cross-country team on their performance at yesterday’s Conference 44 Championship Meet – the entire girls’ team qualified and will advance to the Regional Championships next week in Charlottesville. Finishing in the top 15 for William Campbell and receiving medals were: Kaitlyn King placing 9th and Emma Scott who took the 3rd place spot. Way to go ladies!!

 

There will be a girl’s basketball practice this afternoon (Thursday, October 27th) from 4-6 p.m. Any girls in grades 7-12 who are interested are invited to attend.

 

Attention Seniors who will be enrolling in college in 2017: On Saturday, October 29th, we will be hosting a College Financial Aid workshop in the library from 9-11:00 a.m. This is an event for seniors and at least one parent. Breakfast will be provided. At this workshop parents may bring their 2015 tax information and receive help completing their FAFSA application. All students and parents MUST request a FAFSA pin number at least 4 days in advance of this workshop. It is free, but space is limited. Sign-up as soon as possible in the guidance office. Again, remember that space is limited, so you need to secure your spot today and sign up in Guidance.

 

Senior T-shirts are now on sale in Mrs. Pritt’s room. Orders and money are due no later than November 4th.

  

Attention students who took the ASVAB test: A representative from ASVAB will be here on Friday, October 28th at 8:10 a.m. for ASVAB interpretation. He/she will go over the test scores and answer any questions that you may have. Please plan to be present.

 

Attention Seniors & Juniors: Campbell County Public Schools and Oakes Test Prep have partnered to offer FREE SAT prep classes. Students will learn about the various aspects of the SAT including Reading, English, Math, and the Essay. The session will include 6 hours of instruction from 9:00 to 4:00 with a break from approximately 12:00 to 1:00. Seniors will be given priority for the first workshops. Students are required to register for the workshops at your school.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Schools, organizations, and communities are raising awareness of bullying prevention and teaching students how to respond effectively to bullying situations. Stay tuned to morning announcements and listen for ways to help eliminate bullying. Information is provided by Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center and the Center for Disease Control.

Bullying can lead to physical and mental health problems, including:

  •        Increased fear or anxiety
