Attention Juniors and Seniors: A representative from Bridgewater College will be here on Thursday, October 29th at 10:00 a.m. Sign up in Guidance by Wednesday, October 28th if you plan to attend.


Attention juniors and seniors: The Herff Jones Company will be back on Friday morning, October 30th before school in the lobby taking additional cap and gown orders and final ring payments. If you have not ordered your cap and gown please see him on this day.


Attention Baseball Players: Fundraiser raffle tickets are due by October 30th!! Return all ticket stubs and money to Coach Haga.


Attention 7th graders: Are you interested in learning about careers in healthcare? If so, see Ms. Pugh in the middle school guidance office to apply for the opportunity to attend Centra Health’s Career Day on Monday, November 16th. Applications are due by Friday, October 30th. Late applications will not be accepted.


Generals, please be advised that Friday, October 30th will be Career Day here at WCCS. Local companies will be in attendance to discuss career opportunities (some of which are hiring!!) In addition, Friday, October 30th will also be “Dress for Success” Day. Show your General Pride by dressing in business attire. Please see Dr. Jordan or Ms. Pugh for further details!!!


October 30th marks one year since we lost Mr. Franklin. Since Friday is Career Day we are encouraging everyone to wear their B-Frank shirts or ties on Thursday, October 29th in memory of our beloved teacher and colleague.


This is the last week to purchase a yearbook for $35! Starting next week, prices go up to $50. **Don’t miss out on the lowest price of the year!


Attention Seniors: Norfolk State University will be participating with Virginia College Application Week 2015 from November 16-20. Any senior interested in applying during this time should come by guidance for a code to use to waive the application fee. See Mrs. Maxey if you have questions.


Attention Seniors: The WDBJ-7 Noel C. Taylor Athlete Scholarship will be awarded to one deserving student in the amount of $2000. Applications are in guidance and need to be returned by November 12th.


The Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Scholarship Program for the University of Michigan will provide up to $80,000 over four years for a student from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Scholarships are provided for students pursuing a degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or another science related scientific field. Applications are available online. See Mrs. Maxey if interested.


Central Virginia Credit Union – Joseph P. Crouch Memorial Scholarship – will provide a $1000 scholarship to be used toward tuition or other related fees to a CVFCU member who is a high school senior entering an accredited college or university. The scholarship is based on merit and citizenship. Applicants must become a member of the credit union by February 5, 2016. Applications are available in guidance. Deadline to apply is March 28th.


Attention New High School BETA Club Members: Your dues must be paid by Monday, November 2nd. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Scruggs.


Attention 10th and 11th Grade Students: Are you interested in living on a college campus for four weeks during the summer? Would you like to work with other students from Virginia learning about a variety of academic fields such as medicine or the performing arts? Are you a good student? If so, please consider applying for the 2016 Summer Governor’s School program. Spots are available in the following areas: Agriculture, The Humanities, Math, Science and Technology, Medicine and Health Sciences, NASA at the Langley Research Center, Marine Science, Foreign Languages and Visual and Performing Arts. **All of these programs require an extensive application process….please see Mrs. Dalton if you would like to see if you qualify to apply and for application materials.

Juniors: The Ring Dance will be held November 14th from 7 – 11 p.m. at WC. Please sign up on Miss Reynolds door if you plan to attend. Also, stop by Miss Reynolds room to leave song requests for the dance. All dates from schools other than WC must be pre-approved by administration.


The Prom Committee needs seniors to help with prom ideas. See Mr. Cheatham for information!


October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Schools, organizations and communities are raising awareness of bullying prevention and teaching students how to respond effectively to bullying situations.  Each day on the morning announcements a bullying prevention tip will be read to the student body.
