ACE Team practice is cancelled today. See you all next Thursday.

Attention Seniors: The fall college application season is now in full swing!! This is a friendly reminder that you must personally request to have your transcript sent to colleges/universities. To do this simply stop by HS Guidance and let Mrs. Faulconer know where you would like your transcript to be sent. Please note that you must have a blue transcript request form on file before transcripts can be sent to colleges/universities. Also note, that "official" transcripts often take longer to be delivered and processed; sometimes up to a few weeks if being mailed, so please make sure that you request your transcript early enough to ensure that it will arrive before any application deadlines.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: A representative from Bridgewater College will be here on November 7th at 1:15 pm. Sign up in Guidance by Nov. 6th if you plan to attend this meeting.

Attention Seniors: New scholarships have been added to the school's website under the school counseling scholarship section:
  • The Noel C. Taylor Scholar-Athlete Award is now open to all senior athletes/team managers. This scholarship is worth $1000. Applications must be turned in to the counseling office by November 20th.
  • The Joseph P. Crouch Memorial Scholarship is now open to all seniors entering an accredited college/university. This $1,000 scholarship may be used towards tuition or related fees and is based on merit and citizenship. In order to apply you must become a member of the Central Virginia Federal Credit Union by January 3, 2020. Applications are due to HS Guidance no later than April 6th.

For more information on these and other scholarships please see Mrs. Faulconer in the HS Guidance Office.

Social media is a huge part of most people's lives. The Yearbook is taking a survey of your favorite way of communicating with others. Vote for your favorite social media platform during lunch this week by signing your name on your favorite social media list.

Do you have a friend or small group of close friends who have been by your side forever? The Yearbook staff is holding a photo booth-type of photo shoot for you and your best friend/friends. Your pics will be used in a friend's forever spread in the upcoming 2020 General Yearbook. Sign-up for your photo shoot in the library before school this week. The photo sessions will start next Wednesday. Four participants' names will be drawn in mid-November to win a gift card.

Attention 10th and 11th graders: Applications are available in guidance for the summer 2020 governor's school programs. Programs are offered in the Performing and Visual Arts, Agriculture, Academics and Foreign Language. These programs are residential programs where you live on a college campus for approximately 4 weeks. The application process is competitive and extensive. You must be a strong student academically and some programs require that you tested into a gifted program, such as Odyssey, during your school years. Testing is available for students who have not tested for a gifted program before. Please see Mrs. Dalton if you are interested in learning more about one of these programs or to request an application.
