October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Schools, organizations, and communities are raising awareness of bullying prevention and teaching students how to respond effectively to bullying situations. Stay tuned to morning announcements and listen for ways to help eliminate bullying. Information is provided by Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center and the Center for Disease Control.

What can you do if you see bullying?

Speak Up!

·         When someone is willing to say they think something is wrong, they can make a difference.

·         Let others know that you don’t accept bullying at your school, and others will be more willing to speak       up, too.

·         If you see bullying, tell an adult. Telling is not tattling. It’s ok to tell.

Students have a unique power to prevent bullying. More than half of bullying situations (57%) stop when a peer intervenes on behalf of the student being bullied.
