Congratulations to the Marching Generals who competed at the 42nd annual Dixie Classic at George Washington High School on Saturday. They won 2nd Place Drum Major, 2nd Place Percussion, 3rd Place Music, 3rd Place Marching, 3rd Place Color Guard and 3rd Overall for the day!

Attention Seniors: The Harry F. Byrd, Jr. Leadership Award is now open to all seniors. The award is based on leadership, character, and duty. Award winners will receive $15,000 and there is no restriction to the use of the award. Only one student from WC may be nominated. If you wish to be considered, please see Mrs. Dalton by October 25th.

Homecoming Spirit Week 2019 is next week! Start planning your outfits now!! Look for posters around school for ideas on how to dress up and show your school spirit!

Way-out Wednesday – Dress like a hippie or wear all the tie dye you can find!

Lifetouch will be here on Monday, Oct. 7th to take underclassmen re-take pictures.

The 2020 General yearbook will be on sale for $45.00, with an additional charge of $5.00 with your name on it, through September 30th. After that date, the price will go up to $55.00.

Attention Theater Club Members: The first theater meeting will be held after school on Tuesday, October 1st from 3-5 p.m. You may attend this meeting even if you did not attend the interest meeting as long as you speak to Ms. Hase or Mr. McWilliams beforehand.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: A representative from Liberty University will be here on Thursday, Oct. 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Sign up in Guidance by Oct. 2nd if you plan to attend this meeting.

Attention Seniors who will be enrolling in college in 2020:  On Saturday, October 5th, we will be hosting a free College Financial Aid workshop in the library from 9 - 11 a.m. This is an event for seniors and at least one parent. At this workshop parents may bring their 2018 tax information and receive help completing their FAFSA application. All students and parents must request a FSA ID number at least 4 days in advance of this workshop. Sign up in HS Guidance if you plan to attend this meeting!

The ACE Team is back! If you are in the 8th-12th grade and want to be a part of a faced paced quiz team, sign up outside of Mr. McWilliams room.

Attention 10th and 11th graders: The PSAT's will be held on October 16th. ALL 10th graders will be taking this test for free and DO NOT need to sign up. Any 11th grader who would also like to take the PSAT MUST sign up in the Guidance Office by Wednesday, October 4th. The cost for 11th graders to test is $17. However, some fee waivers are available on a first come, first serve basis. 11th graders should take the PSAT if they are college bound as it also serves as a scholarship competition and prepares for the SAT's in the spring. Please see Mrs. Faulconer in the counseling office to register. Be aware that there is no make-up testing date for the PSAT's.

The SAT's (without the essay) will be offered for free to all seniors on Wednesday, October 16th. Signing up is easy! All seniors need to do is come by the school counseling office to sign up. You DO NOT need to sign up using a Collegeboard account. All seniors need to sign up by October 4th. This is a great opportunity to take your SAT's without having to test on a Saturday and will save you $49. Sign up today!!
