Attention 10th grade Advanced Math students: Applications for the Early College Scholar Program and the Central Virginia Governor’s School are now available from Mrs. Dalton in Guidance. Students who are in Pre-AP Algebra II/Trig or Pre-AP Calculus are eligible to apply for these programs. Please pick applications from Mrs. Dalton by Wednesday, January 21st.
Attention 10th graders who are interested in attending the STEM Engineering Program at CVCC next year: Applications are now available from Mrs. Dalton. Students who attend this program spend ½ the day at CVCC taking math, science and engineering courses, and the other half of the day at William Campbell. This is a great program for students who would like to receive college credit during high school and are interested in getting hired by companies such as BWXT and Areva after high school. Please see Mrs. Dalton by Wednesday, January 21st to find out eligibility requirements and to pick up an application.
The CVCC English and Math Placement Test for sophomores who plan to apply for the Early College program or STEM and for the seniors planning to apply to CVCC in the fall, and for any student planning to do a dual enrollment class next year such as machine shop has been scheduled for Friday, February 6. The test will begin at 8:05 a.m. in the library. There is no cost for the test and students need to apply t CVCC prior to testing. Deadline to sign up in Guidance is Friday, January 30.
VA-MD-DE Association of Electric Cooperatives 2015 Educational Scholarship is for students whose parents or guardians are members of Central Virginia Electric Cooperative and whose primary residence is served by the cooperative. Selection is based on financial need, academic achievement, and personal statement. Information and applications are found online at www.co-opliving.com/community/scholarhip.htm. Deadline to apply online is Feb. 11, 2015.
There will be a senior council meeting Thursday during I/E time in the cafeteria. This is a mandatory meeting for all officers and council members.
The boys basketball team defeated Gretna last night by a final score of 61-59. This win was an overall team effort. Congratulations Generals.
