Financial Aid Information

VERY IMPORTANT FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION

The 2017 – 18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) season will begin earlier than previous years. Beginning on October 1, 2016, students will be able to fill out the FAFSA for the 2017 – 18 school year. In the past the FAFSA window opened on January 1st. In addition, applicants will no longer need to estimate income and tax information and will be able to retrieve their data directly from the IRS, right from the first day the FAFSA becomes available. Students will also have information about their Expected Family Contributions earlier, helping them as they’re going through the college application and selection process.

What should ALL COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS AND THEIR PARENTS DO AT THIS TIME:   Request a FSA ID, a username and password combination that you’ll use to sign the FAFSA and access certain websites related to your federal student aid.  Both a parent AND the student need to request an ID.  DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It may take up to three days to receive this ID. If you wait until we have our Saturday FAFSA workshop (October 29th in the library) you will not be able to fully complete your FAFSA.

So…..

  1. Both parent and student need to go ahead and request a FAFSA ID at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.  DO NOT LOSE YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD AS THIS CAN CAUSE A GOOD DEAL OF STRESS FOR YOU.

  1. Attend our FAFSA Workshop on October 20th at 6 p.m. in the auditorium to learn about the FAFSA and new information.

  1. Attend our FAFSA Saturday session and complete your actual FAFSA on October 29th from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
