NCAA / NAIA Eligibility

Running Student

In order to play college athletics students often have to meet several eligibility requirments. Examples are:

  • Maintaining a GPA of 2.3 in high school
  • Passing a certain number of "core" classes in high school (ex. English, Math, History)
  • Receving qualifying scores on college entrance exams such as the SATs or ACTs
  • Ranking in the top half of his or her senior class

Here is some information on whether a student may be eligible to play NCAA I or II .

It is important that 9th grade students are aware of eligibility requirements upon entering high school. Being aware of requirements prevents ineligibility issues in the future. Please see the information below to learn the requirements of particular sports programs. In addition, please be aware that colleges and universities may have additional requirements not found on this page. It is the student's responsibility to know the requirements of the schools he or she wishes to apply.
