Added 4/11/24 Staunton River Masonic Lodge Carleigh Shae Singleton Memorial Scholarship The Staunton River Masonic Lodge is pleased to offer this scholarship to a deserving senior who plans to pursue a career in the medical field. This scholarship was established in memory of former WCHS student, Carleigh Singleton. Deadline: May 31, 2024 Award: $1,000 (Renewable for up to four consecutive years, depending on the availability of funds and the student's satisfactory academic performance - 3.0 GPA and continuing need) Criteria: Essay and (2) two recommendation letters are required as part of the application.
Added 3/14/24 Mary Marshall Maddox and Francis Maddox Smith Memorial Scholarship This scholarship has been established in memory of Mary Marshall Maddox and Francis Maddox Smith, former educators at William Campbell High School. Deadline: April 12, 2024 (Due to Mrs. Faulconer) Award: $1,000 (non-renewable) Criteria: Essay requirement. Award presented to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree in Education, the medical field, or to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional leadership at William Campbell High School.
Added 3/8/24 The Sow Good Seeds "Spirit of Volunteer" Award Sow Good Seeds, a local non-profit organization is pleased to offer this scholarship based on student's volunteerism. Added 3/11/24 Granville P. Meade Scholarship The Granville P. Meade Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college. The Granville P. Meade fund awards scholarships to eligible Virginia high school seniors to attend one of Virginia's public or private colleges or universities. Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline: April 8, 2024 (Due to Mrs. Faulconer) Award: $2,000 Renewable for four years Criteria: Granville P. Meade scholars will be selected upon financial need and merit. Applicants will need to demonstrate academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and good character as determined by letters of recommendation and financial need.
Added 3/8/24 The Classy Curves Social Club Scholarship Classy Curves Social Club of Brookneal is pleased to offer a $200 scholarship to a member of the WC senior class who will be enrolling in either a 2 or 4 year college/university in the fall of 2024. Applicants are asked to write a 2-page essay; containing a bio and the answer to the following question "Where do you see yourself in 5 years". Essay submissions should be turned into Mrs. Faulconer in the counseling office no later than May 13, 2024.
Added 3/8/24 Tom Webb Scholarship Fund This scholarship is available to any senior who has been involved in Jubilee Family Development Center and its programs. Interested applicants must be applying to an accredited college, university, or trade school following high school graduation. Applications are available in the counseling office. Added 3/8/24 Virginia State University Alumni Association Central VA Chapter Scholarship This scholarship is open to any student from Central Virginia who plans to attend Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA. Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline: April 5, 2024 Award: $1,000
Added 3/4/24 Kyle E. Thornhill Sr. Scholarship (Campbell County Branch NAACP Scholarship Program) The Kyle E. Thornhill Scholarship Committee will award multiple $500 scholarships this year. This scholarship award may be used for tuition or other expenses at any full-time college/university or community college program in the United States during the fall semester in the year of high school graduation. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university. Applications can be picked up in the HS Counseling Office. Deadline: April 16, 2024 (due to Mrs. Faulconer) Award: $500 Criteria: This scholarship is for ANY Campbell County student with at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation and an essay.
Added 3/4/24 Showstopper Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established to honor the life, passions and values of Tommy Boggs while helping students who share similar interests or face financial challenges. Added 3/4/24 Terrell D. Mosley Scholarship Award This scholarship is provided by The Exchange Club of Lynchburg and is specifically awarded based on the criteria of scholastic achievement and financial need. Deadline: April 10, 2024 (all scholarships must be postmarked by this date). Award: $1,500 Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded based on the criteria of scholastic achievement and financial need.
Added 2/26/24 The Central Republican Women's Club is pleased to offer a scholarship in the amount of $500 to a graduating senior(s) from Amherst, Bedford, Campbell Counties or the City of Lynchburg. An essay is required. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Deadline: May 7, 2024 Award: $500
Added 2/21/24 The Brookneal Woman's Club in partnership with Brookneal Presbyterian Church will offer a scholarship in the amount of $1,250 to a William Campbell graduating senior. Criteria for consideration include: academic performance, participation in school/community activities, and financial need. An essay and letter of recommendation are also required. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and must be returned to Mrs. Faulconer no later than April 12th.
Added 2/21/24 Campbell County Cattlemen's Association Scholarship This scholarship is available to 2023 high school seniors and is not limited to attending a 4-year college. Students enrolling at vocational schools, trade schools, community colleges or military enlistments are all welcome to apply. Information and full scholarship details may be picked up in the counseling office. Deadline: April 5, 2024 Award: $1,000 Criteria: Applicants are judged on their presentation of required information in an original and self-made format.

Added 2/15/24 Southside Opportunity Fund Southside Electric Cooperative’s own Southside Opportunity Fund will award $1,000 scholarships this spring to high school or home-school seniors headed to college or a trade/technical school. Students who receive electricity at their homes from Southside Electric Cooperative are eligible to apply. A combination of weighted criteria is used in the selection process: 45% financial need, 45% academic achievement and 10% personal statement. Added 2/6/24 The Dennis Carter Student Athlete Scholarship This scholarship is open to HS Senior Student Athletes in Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell counties, as well as the city of Lynchburg – and is named after Dennis Carter – who has meant so much to local sports in our area for the past 40+ years. One male and one female will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to be used towards an institution of higher education. Added 2/1/24 VMDAEC Educational Scholarship Foundation The Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives is pleased to offer scholarships for post-secondary education to deserving but financially challenged students from our member electric cooperative territories. High school or home-school seniors graduating in 2024 whose parents or guardians are Southside Electric Cooperative members and whose primary residence is served by the Cooperative are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarships from the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives. Added 2/1/24 The Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship Presented annually to a graduating Virginia high school student who excels in the area of sports journalism and must be pursuing a college degree in journalism, communication, video, media or a related field with intentions of pursuing a career in sports. Added 2/1/24 Beacon Credit Union Scholarship Open to any graduating high school senior or child of a member interested in seeking higher education who meets the eligibility requirements. Paper applications are available in the school counseling office. To apply online, please visit: www.mybcu.org/beacon-scholarships Deadline: April 5, 2024 Award: $2,500 Criteria: Must be a member of Beacon Credit Union at least six (6) months prior to the application deadline. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Three (3) recommendations/references are required along with a student essay.
Added 2/1/24 Long Island Ruritan Club - Kelly Crabtree Memorial Scholarship Established in memory of Kelly Crabtree, the Long Island Ruritan Club is pleased to offer two (2) WCCS seniors a $250 college scholarship for the 2023-24 school year. Applications are available in the school counseling office. Deadline: April 26, 2024 Award: $250 Criteria: Award based on academic excellence, service to school, community or church and financial need. A letter of recommendation, student essay and high school transcript are also required as part of the application.
Added 1/26/24 Calvary Baptist Church Scholarship This scholarship is presented annually to one or more graduating seniors who live in the Altavista, Gretna, Rustburg or William Campbell school districts. Awards are based on financial need and school/community involvement. An essay is also required. Applications are available in the school counseling office. Deadline: April 15, 2024 Award: $500 Criteria: A completed application including essay, high school transcript and (2) two letters of recommendation are required.
Added 1/26/24 The AAUW-Lynchburg Branch Scholarship This scholarship is offered to assist women of traditional college age or returning adult women, from Central Virginia in attending the four-year college or university of their choice. Awards are based on academic success and financial need. Applications are available in the school counseling office. Deadline: April 1, 2024 Award: $3,000 Criteria: Student essay, two (2) recommendation letters, high school transcript and FAFSA report are all required as part of your application.
Added 1/26/24 The William C. Folkes Scholarship This fund provides scholarships to students who are residents of the City of Lynchburg or Campbell County, attending the University of Virginia. There are a number of current Folkes Scholarship recipients. At this time, the Scholarship Committee does not know how many scholarships, if any, will be available for the 2024-25 academic year. Students are encouraged to apply in the event that scholarship money becomes available. Applications are available in the school counseling office. Deadline: March 20, 2024 Award: TBD
Added 1/24/24 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Scholarship This scholarship is offered by the Gamma Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is specifically for African-American males. Paper copies of the application are available in the counseling office. Added 1/24/24 VBA Bank Day Scholarship Program Bank Day is a one-day, in-person program held at First National Bank in association with the Virginia Bankers Association. Our program will be held on Thursday, March 14th from 9:00 am to 2:45 pm at First National Bank (622 Broad St, Altavista). On this day, High School Seniors learn about banking, financial services, and career opportunities in the banking industry along with the vital role banks play in their communities. From their experience, students will be required to write an essay reflecting on their day. Fifteen scholarships (six honorable mention - $1,000 each, six regional - $2,500 each, one statewide winner - $5,000, and two - $500 from First National Bank) will be awarded on the basis of the essays. Registration is open until March 1st. Students must register online through the VBA in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Be sure to enter "First National Bank" so that you will be matched with our bank and become eligible for the additional scholarship. Added 1/23/24 The Savedge Scholarship Each year the VHSL awards $500 to one college-bound senior who has participated and excelled in school publications (magazine, newspaper, and yearbook), and for at least two years has demonstrated outstanding personal qualities such as leadership, writing, proficiency, design aptitude, creativity, teamwork and character. Deadline: March 1, 2024 Award: $500 Criteria: Graduating senior with a minium of two years as a participant of school publication staff, have demonstrated one or more of the personal qualities listed above. Applicant must apply to an accredited college, university or educational institution beyond the secondary level.
Added 1/23/24 Vito Perriello Citizenship Award This program awards two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 for graduating seniors wishing to further their education in medicine or an allied health field at an institution of higher learning, including universities, community colleges, and trade schools. Added 1/22/24 WSLS 10 Scholarship If you are a senior at a local high school in the WSLS 10 viewing area, are college-bound and have demonstrated success in both academics and sports/activity competitions or marching band then this scholarship may be for you! Deadline: March 31, 2024 Award: $2,000 Criteria: Minimum GPA of at least a "B", student essay, volunteer experience/community service, work/job experience, at least (2) letters of recommendation from VHSL coaches/activity sponsors.
Added 1/18/24 The Fray Family Charitable Trust Scholarship This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for up to two (2) students from each Campbell County High School who plans to further his/her education (i.e. technical school, community college, four-year college). Funding for the scholarship is provided by The Fray Family Charitable Trust. Application forms must be completed and returned to Guidance no later than March 20th. Please see Mrs. Faulconer for a copy of the application. Deadline: March 20, 2024 Award: $5,000 Criteria: Minimum 2.0 GPA, financial need (must provide one of the following: FAFSA Report, most recent Family IRS 1040 Form or Direct Certification Approval for Benefits – free/reduced lunch verification letter), community involvement, three (3) letters of recommendation.
Added 1/11/24 2024 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Are you interested in learning more about the important role electric cooperatives play in America? Each June, students and chaperones from around the United States gather together in Washington, D.C. for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour. Spend a day visiting Capitol Hill learning about the federal government and meeting with members of Congress. In addition, you will tour Arlington National Cemetery, the African American Museum along with other sites, catch a MLB game, have an evening at the theater, enjoy a dinner cruise on the Potomac River and visit an electric cooperative in Maryland. The Youth Tour application is open to any high school junior who lives and attends school within SEC's service area. For more information and to apply, please visit www.sec.coop/YouthTour. Added 1/08/24 The 2024 Joseph P. Crouch Memorial Scholarship awarded by Central Virginia Federal Credit Union will provide a $1,000 scholarship toward tuition or related fees to a CVFCU member who is a high school senior entering an accredited college/university. This scholarship is based on merit and citizenship. Students may download the application by visiting CVFCU's website https://www.cvfcu.com/about-us/in-the-community and searching "Scholarship" or pick up a copy in the school counseling office. Deadline: May 3, 2024 Award: $1,000 Criteria: Student must become a member of CVFCU by February 28, 2024. An acceptance letter from the college/university you will be attending is required as part of the application as well as two letters of recommendation and an essay on the importance of community service.

Added 12/11/23 The Ralph & Mitchell Miles Walker Scholarship is now open to graduating seniors who plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college/university or other accredited professional institution. This scholarship is open to residents of Campbell and northern Pittsylvania Counties. A minimum GPA of 2.5 and SAT/ACT scores at or above the 50% percentile are required. Added 11/28/23 Allstate Foundation/VHSL Achievement Award Nineteen $1,500 scholarships are awarded each year honoring high school seniors representing all parts of the state with the VHSL-Allstate Achievement Award, the highest honor given by the VHSL to students who have excelled in the classroom and in athletic and academic activities. Added 11/27/23 Awareness Garden Foundation Scholarship The Awareness Garden Scholarship Program was established to help students whose lives have been impacted by cancer or who plan to work in a cancer-related field. The scholarship is open to graduating seniors who have been accepted to or enrolled in an accredited 2 or 4-year college, university or technical school. Added 11/21/23 BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship The Better Business Bureau Serving Western VA promotes integrity and ethics in the marketplace through voluntary business self-regulation. Each year we offer scholarships recognizing “Students of Integrity.” These scholarships are designed to recognize and promote ethics and integrity among young people. The BBB will award scholarships to graduating high school seniors who personify all of the best aspects of strong character in their personal choices and actions. Added 11/20/23 Lynchburg Academy of Medicine Award Scholarship The Lynchburg Academy of Medicine Alliance is dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community through health education and service. As a part of our mission, the Alliance has established an annual educational scholarship to be given to a student who is studying to enter a health care profession. Added 11/16/23 The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship The Jackie Robinson Foundation was established to preserve the memory of American baseball player, Jackie Robinson by providing generous four-year scholarships and comprehensive support services to highly motivated college students with financial needs to ensure their success and further develop their leadership potential. JRF Scholars receive grants of up to $35,000 over four years to supplement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. In addition, Scholars receive extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement, and attend JRF’s annual multi-day "Mentoring and Leadership Conference" in New York City and other regional events throughout the year. Added 11/9/23 Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation Scholarship Need help paying for college? Despite the “agriculture” in our name, students do not have to have an ag background or be majoring in an ag related field for all scholarships. Added 10/16/23 The Hagan Scholarship The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to graduate college debt-free. The scholarship program includes FREE workshops, FREE brokerage accounts, and FREE study abroad opportunities.
